Position Description:

Are you ready to be the heart of a seamless Medical Device company? Join our team as a CNC Maintenance Technician. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our CNC machines used in the production of medical devices. You will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. This position requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of mechanical components.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnosing Issues: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions.
  • Parts and Inventory Management: Maintaining department parts and inventory stock for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Following Maintenance Schedules: Adhering to planned maintenance schedules to ensure timely servicing of machinery and equipment, reducing the risk of unexpected downtime.
  • Documenting Maintenance Activities : Document maintenance activities, including repairs, parts replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks, in accordance with company procedures.

Within your first 30 days:

  • Complete orientation and training on company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Familiarize yourself with the CNC machines and production processes used in our facility.
  • Shadow experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience in CNC maintenance and repair.
  • Begin performing routine maintenance tasks under supervision and guidance.
  • Establish rapport with team members and key stakeholders in production and engineering departments.

Within 60 days:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting common CNC equipment issues independently.
  • Execute preventive maintenance procedures according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in machine performance or maintenance processes.
  • Assist in implementing improvements or modifications to CNC equipment in collaboration with engineering teams.

Within 90 days to one year:

  • Take ownership of CNC maintenance activities and contribute to minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment reliability.
  • Proactively identify and address potential maintenance issues before they escalate.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians or new hires in CNC maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives in machine performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency and stay updated on new technologies or advancements in CNC machining and maintenance practices.
Position Requirements:
  • Completion of high school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in troubleshooting and repairing of CNC mills, lathes, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with repairing Wire and Sinker Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), Makino, Deckel Maho Gildemeister (DMG), Laser and Swiss screw machines.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
  • Understanding machine alarm codes and utilization machine diagnostics for troubleshooting.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
Preferred:
  • Completed technical or vocational school and obtained a certificate.
  • Knowledge and experience with test equipment and meters, such as Digital Multimeters (DMMs), Amp Probes, Meggers, and Oscilloscope.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting Nitrogen and Oxygen generators and compressors.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and repairing of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), Laser, and Swiss screw equipment.
  • Knowledge in Fanuc, Okuma, and Siemens controls.
  • Reliable team member with the willingness and the drive to succeed within the team.
  • Motivated, self-starter, and a proactive team player.
