Applied Materials expects over the next five years to have the most exciting and active project pipeline in its history. The Global Workplace and Infrastructure (GWI) team at Applied Materials is responsible for all facilities, from acquisition through operation to disposition.
Responsible for managing construction projects in the Bay Area region. Coordinate design professionals including architects, engineers, and other specialty consultants to support construction. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The position is based in Santa Clara and will report to the Facilities Engineering and Construction Manager.
Key Responsibilities –
Provide inhouse project management of workplace office and site area projects. Knowledgeable of construction processes, startup, testing, commissioning and acceptance of systems and buildings. Ensure projects are completed according to project plans. Candidate has a proven track record in managing a safety culture that promotes a safe working environment.
Provide direct management of design and construction contractors to execute projects.
Oversight of third-party project management for the execution of projects.
Align with internal strategic operations, IT teams and business units to collect detailed project requirements.
Engage and maintain positive working relationships with the local jurisdictions/departments.
Drive both internal and external stakeholders to meet deadlines as required per the project delivery schedule.
Create and maintain the project budget including securing internal approvals for capital funding.
Provide budget analysis (cost models and trending) and value engineering. Engagement and management of General Contractors to include competitive bidding and negotiation of contracts and cost proposals.
The Ideal Candidate will have the Following:
5 years’ experience as a construction project manager
Knowledge of the construction industry/market, design process, and construction practices.
Strong background in commercial and industrial construction to include mechanical, electrical, plumbing building systems, tenant improvement, site work and ground up construction.
INCUMBENTS ARE PREFERRED WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. Degree, or equivalent, in such areas as Engineering or Construction Management.

Ability to partner effectively with demanding and highly technical business leaders and internal customers.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct multiple projects.
U.S. Salary Range:
$120,000.00 - $165,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
