Key Qualifications
6 years in Mechanical design experience. Any Opto-Mechanical design and ground truth validation understanding is a huge plus
Expert in validating components shifts and tilts within mechanical assembly
Expert in Metrology development or reconfiguration
Experience partnering with equipment vendors and CM to deploy testers that supports data collection at CM
In depth knowledge in validation methodologies and process capability tools (statical analysis, DOE, FMEA, SPC, Failure Analysis, Data Analysis …etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate recommendations based on data
Able to perform DMAIC steps. Demonstrate any or all the experiences are a plus
Understanding of product (consumer, tool, fixture, mechatronics, optics) design or validation from concept to acceptance
MATLAB, JMP, Tableau, or Influx DB data analyst
3D CAD (NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E), GD&T practices, or Tolerance Analysis

Description
The ideal candidate will define, characterize, and validate KPIs associated with mechanical pointing vectors and enclosure deformation through high-accuracy metrology. Your outputs are used as ground truth across all fields to confirm their algorithm and assumptions. The scope includes 1) Understanding materials, assembly, and environmental elements that may impact KPI characterizing, and null them out. 2) Ensure the sub-system KPIs are aligned with system level KPI’s. 3) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set performance specs appropriate at various nodes in the supply chain. Combined, they support us in yielding the most amazing product that only Apple can image and deliver!
Education & Experience
BS/MS in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
