Responsibilities include the development and qualification of advanced, energy storage technology, fabrication and assembly process development.The ideal candidate shows initiative and can drive projects with inputs and guidance from multiple collaborators. A successful associate engineer needs to be comfortable with constantly evolving priorities.
Key Qualifications
- The Associate Engineer will be responsible for executing to standardized and exploratory manufacturing plans and procedures as well as supporting next generation R&D engineering work orders. The scope of the role includes (but is not limited to):
- Experience in processing of chemicals related to conventional battery cells.
- Competency in micro-contamination analysis.
- Knowledge in functionality of semi-conductor tools.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting processes.
- Knowledge in characterization, data analysis, and quality control of: polymer films, resins (thickness and surface morphology) and liquids (analysis of viscosity, density, and conductivity)
- Experience with high vacuum drying, oven, and molecular sieve.
- Very good manual handling skills.
- Familiarity with cleaning of utensils (washing glassware, Teflon molds, bottles, funnels, lids, stirrers).
- Very good written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain technical issues.
Description
- Build developmental battery cells using slurry casting, cutting & punching metal foils and welding on leads.- Place developmental cells into fixtures for electrochemical testing. - Measure thickness and uniformity of polymer films- Measure viscosity, density, and conductivity of liquids- Clean utensils including washing glassware, Teflon molds, bottles, funnels, lids, stirrers, etc.- Dry salts and molecular sieve in high vacuum and oven
Education & Experience
Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science or related field preferred.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $47.36 and $71.16/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
