Apple Valley Animal Hospital - your other family Doctor.

We recognize the important role pets play as a part of our families and believe they deserve the same compassionate, professional medical care we expect for any other family member.

Veterinary assistant duties: Assist veterinarians and technicians in obtaining patient histories, collecting and processing diagnostic samples, and providing nursing care for hospitalized patients. Daily tasks will also include hospital sanitation, maintaining stock of medical supplies, and general patient support.

Education: High school or equivalency diploma.

Active listening: Strong listening skills are necessary to understand and follow veterinarians and veterinary technicians instructions.

Monitoring: The ability to notice changes in the animals conditions will allow you to take appropriate action.

Service orientation: Veterinary assistants need a strong desire to help others.

Positive attitude: We strive to keep our workdays fun and friendly for our patients, our clients, and (most importantly) our coworkers.

Team mentality: Whatever challenges the workday may hold we overcome them better together.

Problem solving: You must be able to identify and solve problems.

Critical thinking: This skill will allow you to determine what your options are when making decisions or solving problems, to evaluate them, and then to choose the one with the most promising outcome.

Focus: You'll have to remain calm and on task in what is often busy, with numerous distractions.

Physical fitness: You'll have to be able to lift objects and animals up to 50 pounds.

Work week: 3-4 day work week, Saturday availability is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
