Regional Dietitian Job Description:

The Regional Dietitian will provide comprehensive nutritional care for residents in designated facilities & ensure compliance with Food Service regulations and standards of practice offering counsel and/or directive to Dietary Managers, Nursing, or Administrators as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities include:

Provision of comprehensive nutritional care and integration of medical nutrition therapy recommendations into personal care plans for all residents in designated facilities.* In addition, provide recommendations to staff to ensure compliance with Food Service regulations and to uphold standards of practice offering counsel and/or directive to Dietary Managers, Nursing, or Administrators as deemed necessary.

Qualifications Required:

• ·Registered Dietitian with clinical experience in long term care and rehab settings.
• ·Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• ·Current knowledge of dietary practices, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines as they apply to long term care.
• ·Effective communication skills; oral and written.
• ·Self-motivated and flexible.
• ·Must demonstrate cooperation; team player approach.
• ·Must demonstrate patience, tact, enthusiasm, positive attitude.
• ·Valid driver’s license with vehicle.

Essential Job Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation)

A.Administrative Functions

·Consults with facilities as required to assure regulatory compliance, improvement of dietary service standards.

·Cooperatively works with staff to communicate corporate philosophy and vision to facility level.

·Develop a supportive partnership with staff from multiple disciplines and provides in-service education in accordance with Apple policies, standards, and philosophy.

·Activities and duties vary week to week but include completing MDS assessments, conducting resident interviews, reviewing facility menus, attending quarterly Medical Staff meetings and weekly “at risk” meetings, providing facility clinical review quarterly and participating in quality improvement team as needed.

• Administrative hours should be spent in the facility, unless spent at an approved meeting or seminar.
• Ensures that dietary department personnel are following all nutrition related policies and procedures.

·Coordinate and communicate with assigned facilities to maintain a consistent but flexible schedule that will meet the needs of your designated facility. Maintain confidentiality between facilities.
