Essential Job FunctionsThe Mary S. Shook Student Health Service exists to provide for the health care needs of the students of Appalachian State University.
Duties will be assigned based on the type of staff hired.
The staff nurse, a registered professional nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients and for assisting the physician/clinician at the Mary S. Shook Student Health Services.
Certified Nursing Assistant is to work with professional and supportive staff to enhance a safe and disease free/controlled work place. To provide safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care for the patient. Organize and maintain the Mary S. Shook Student Health Services facility in a clean and sanitary condition.
X-Ray Technologist performs diagnostic imaging in a variety of clinical settings. Duties performed include: taking, developing, using and maintaining technical equipment effectively and/or assisting physicians during procedures. Work involves working directly with patients – preparing patients for procedures, positioning patients and providing instruction.
Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood by performing venipuncture, finger sticks, and performing EKG’s for clinical laboratory testing and alalysis. Organization and maintian the laboratory facility and patient areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
Preferred QualificationsHigh School Graduate with certification or license for the position in which you are applying (if required).
Work Schedule/HoursHours and times may vary depending on the position. May include some nights and weekends
