Position: MWI Facilities Manager

Supervisor: MWI Operations Manager

Summary:

The MWI Facilities Manager is responsible, in coordination withthe MWI Operations Manager, for year-round operational management, staffsupervision, delivery of guest services and risk management at AMCs’ highquality, full service, facilities in the Moosehead Lake Region of Maine. TheMWI Facilities Manager is an ambassador for the AMC and is expected to supportthe delivery of AMC activities, programs and facility services and representthe AMC at conferences, meetings and trade shows.The MWI Facilities Manager is responsible forthe quality, safety and efficiency of MWI guest services delivery with aspecific focus on staff hiring/supervision/development, logistics coordination,total guest experience and necessary facility operations.

Priorities include, supervising the Lodge Managers andMaintenance Staff, fulfilling operational needs, facilities management andsupporting AMC’s mission of providing responsible outdoor recreationactivities, education opportunities and conservation practices. The FacilitiesManager will work closely with the MWI Programs & Recreation Manager todevelop appropriate programming to enhance the guest experience and alsoincrease overall occupancy.

This position is a member of the MWI Sr. Leadership Team,and works closely with the Operations Manager, Land Manager and Programs &Recreation Manager to support all MWI operations.This is a full time, year round exemptposition with benefits.

Goals and specific objectives are developed annually basedon short and long range goals for MWI.Performance, in relation to goals and objectives, is evaluatedperiodically during the year.

Responsibilities incollaboration with MWI Sr. Leadership Staff:

  • Superviseall MWI Lodge Managers for the year-round delivery of a warm, welcoming andsafe atmosphere for all guests
  • Supervisethe maintenance staff to ensure that all facilities are well maintained,operating efficiently and safely, and coordinating with the Land Manager onroad and trail needs
  • Workwith the MWI Operations Manager to oversee capital improvement projects andmanage external contractors
  • Hire,supervise, train and evaluate seasonal and full-time staff based on AMC/MWIpolicies
  • Providefriendly and attentive professional guest services
  • Workto increase retention of staff and raise the value of the employee investment
  • Assistin the recruitment and hiring of all MWI staff
  • Representthe AMC and MWI at meetings, conferences, job fairs and trade shows
  • Implementenergy conservation and environmentally sound practices in daily operations
  • Provideinformation to visitors and guests about the AMC, local natural and culturalhistory, risk management, outdoor recreation opportunities, and AMC landmanagement practices
  • Maintainaccurate financial records and control routine expenses based on an approved,annual operating budget
  • Attendoff-site meetings as needed and as MWI schedules permit
  • Assistin the development of short and long range plans and operating and capitalbudgets
  • Assistin the development of marketing plans to promote MWI facilities and programs
  • Readand comply with all AMC and MWI policy and procedure in relation to theposition
  • Otherduties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Exceptionalcustomer service skills and outgoing friendly attitude
  • Demonstratedmanagement ability, experience in facility management, staff supervision,hospitality services, and/or related activities
  • Abilityto supervise and manage employees to complete a diverse variety of work tasksand non-conventional work schedules
  • Abilityto hike, paddle, ski, snowshoe and instruct others in these activities asrequired
  • Abilityto design, coordinate and lead appropriate outdoor programs, train staff inoutdoor leadership and hard skills and manage associated equipment resources
  • Abilityto perform work in a remote camp setting and travel safely in the backcountryin all weather conditions, carrying up to 40 lbs of gear.
  • Commitmentto the Conservation-Education-Recreation mission of the AMC
  • ValidWilderness First Responder certification or the ability to obtain
  • ValidMaine driver’s license
  • Registrationas a Maine Guide or ability to obtain
  • Abilityto use a computer to send and receive email, and create Microsoft Word andExcel documents
