Appalachian Mountain Cl is Hiring a Director of Digital Marketing & Media Relations Near Boston, MA

Location: AMC Headquarters, Boston, MA
Reports to: Chief Communications & Marketing Officer
Summary Description: 
The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) seeks a Director of Digital Marketing & Media Relations (DDMMR) to oversee AMC’s digital marketing channels and media relations activities – defining new integrated strategies for AMC’s paid and earned, outward facing digital brand and messaging. The DDMR will manage a team responsible for SEO/SEM, closed loop reporting to improve ROI, as well as national media outreach for increased awareness of the work and activities of AMC. Under the direction of AMC’s Chief of Communications & Marketing (CCMO), the DDMMR will be instrumental in growing AMC membership, driving conservation efforts online and building awareness of lodging and outdoor programming. This is a full time, exempt position is located in AMC’s headquarters in Boston, MA, and offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
This role is ideal for someone with a love of the outdoors and 8 years of professional digital marketing and media experience, including marketing automation, campaign performance analysis, and Google Analytics.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct management of digital marketing & media relations group staff and oversight of projects.
  • Develop a measuring system for determining the success of each digital marketing program.
  • Develop a measuring system for determining the success of media relations strategies.
  • Report M&MR success, challenges and strategy ideas monthly to CCMO.
  • Closely monitor current events and relevant publications to identify media opportunities for the AMC’s Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team.
  • Effectively address emerging organizational issues; and help manage overall reputation, brand and voice of AMC. 
  • Work closely with all Communications Team groups (marketing, content, creative, editorial) to identify and develop opportunities for integrating AMC content into collaborative digital marketing and/or media campaigns.
  • Perform all other duties within the AMC as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, media relations and 8 years successful digital marketing and media relations experience in a fast paced, data driven, production environment. 
  • Exceptional communication, management and collaboration skills.
  • Proven experience managing email marketing, marketing automation, and closed loop reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting and executing successful marketing and public relations campaigns.
  • Ability to initiate, monitor and complete simultaneous projects under deadline.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing trends, current web standards and technologies.
  • Organized and detail oriented with strong commitment to quality and consistency. 
  • Passion for the outdoor recreation, conservation, and education mission of the AMC.
