About the job: Barista

Apothecary Coffee is a specialty coffee shop in Sedro-Woolley that offers dine-in and drive-thru service.

Our goal is to offer the best coffees, teas, and treats in the area without compromise and with the highest level of customer service possible. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone, both team members and customers, feel welcome and excited to spend time in our space.

We are looking for experienced baristas that are used to working in busy environments. An ideal candidate has a passion for coffee and loves interacting with customers and building relationships with regulars. They would be interested in continued self development and growing in their role as the business grows.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals that are willing to learn and strive for excellence in everything they do. We love creativity and welcome our team members to generate ideas that can help us grow.

What You Will Do

Base wage of $17-18/hour plus tips (spilt between staff on duty).

Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week to start. Variable shifts. Full-time is possible as well.

Responsibilities:

Apothecary Coffees culture and values and following policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Delivering Engaging Customer Service

  • Welcoming all customers to the shop/drive-thru and engaging with them throughout their experience.
  • Determining customer needs by asking questions and sharing product knowledge.
  • Demonstrating that customers come first by serving them with a sense of urgency and purpose.
  • Learning repeat customers' preferences

Delivering Operational Excellence

  • Providing consistent quality in the preparation of coffees, teas, and and other items.
  • Participating actively in training to learn new drinks, techniques and menu items.
  • Meeting standards set by leadership.
  • Participating in social media marketing and other forms of business development.
  • Continually working to develop professionally.
  • Cleaning equipment daily to ensure proper working order.
  • Maintaining a clean and well stocked store.
  • Wiping down chairs and tables.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping the coffee area and lobby.
  • Managing supply inventory and coordinating with vendors to maintain appropriate stock.
  • Shopping for supplies.
  • Shopping for front-end gift items for retail sales.
  • Merchandising retail items.

  • Exhibit a strong focus on quality with an interest in learning more about coffee, tea and other items sold.
  • Be extremely reliable and punctual.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and building great relationships with their coworkers. Willing to look for opportunities to jump in and help where needed.
  • Be able to work quickly, embrace change, learn new information, multi-task and incorporate feedback into personal performance.
  • Have the ability to work with a Point of Sale system.
  • Able to comply and adhere to all appropriate health and safety regulations and cleanliness requirements .
  • Have the ability to perform various physical tasks during the work shift.
  • Be creative and enthusiastic and help generate ideas for promotions and other marketing events.

Skills And Requirements

  • 1 years of barista experience is required.
  • A passion to provide outstanding customer service ensuring that each customer leaves feeling valued, appreciated and loves their time in store with us.
  • Must be able to work mornings (perhaps weekends in the future).
  • Open availability and schedule flexibility is a MUST.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Upbeat and energetic attitude throughout the work day.
  • Mutli-tasker who is comfortable juggling many customer requests and demands at the same time.
  • Prompt and reliable transportation.
  • Understanding of proper coffee and tea methods, techniques and standards to inform customers.
  • Current Skagit County Food Handler Permit
  • Strong attention detail and precision.
  • Efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand while on shift.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
