Apex Controls is Hiring an Engineering Manager Near Hudsonville, MI
- Works in partnership with the quoting team on engineering projects to assist in the conceptualizing of projects, assessing of costs and alignment of available engineering resources.
- Works in partnership with other engineering managers in the allocation of engineers from the entire engineering resources pool to each manager’s team
- Assigns and allocates to projects the engineering resources assigned to their team.
- Works with Human Resources in recruiting and hiring of new engineers.
- Develops the engineering staff through leadership, mentoring, and training.
- Conducts annual performance reviews for their engineering team.
- Works in partnership with all engineering managers to make wage recommendations for entire engineering staff.
- Participates in various Apex committees to which they are assigned. Some examples are Safety, Standards and Mentoring.
- Provides project management of projects assigned to their team. This project management role may be delegated to an engineering lead that they have chosen from their team as this project’s manager. Project management responsibilities include:
- Monitors performance to quoted hours, costs and schedule and provides post-project “debrief” summaries on key projects.
- On a minimum of a monthly interval, makes adjustments to projected costs and hours to complete active projects.
- Notifies accounting of invoicing requirements when project milestones have been reached.
- Works in concert with the Electrical Operations Manager to coordinate project requirements and scheduling for joint engineering and electrical projects.
- Prepares and presents to executive management budget recommendations for areas of responsibility.
- Actively engages customers to build partnering relationships.
- Works with management team in growing business opportunities, including identifying key areas for growth and assessment of risk.
- Partners with key suppliers to provide successful solutions.
- Selects contractors for outsourcing of project responsibilities within their scope.
- Leads with honesty and integrity.
- Builds and models partnering relationships with other internal teams.
- Fosters a leadership approach that builds team confidence, actively seeks opportunities to celebrate successes, and builds positive learning opportunities from situations that did not meet expectations.
- Identifies members of their team that demonstrate potential for future leadership roles.
- Works under the direction of the General Manager of Apex Controls
- Capable of working with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Highly organized and able to multitask.
- Able to evaluate multiple options and make clear and concise decisions.
- Strong communicator, both internally and with customers or suppliers
- Proficient with 2-D CAD software
- Experienced with PLC software development.
- Experienced with HMI software development.
- Familiar with National Electric Code and other common electrical standards, including safety standards.
- Experience with motion control system hardware and software, robotic systems, and vision systems
- Degree in related engineering field or relevant experience in an appropriate engineering discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the area of Controls Engineering
- Experience in project leadership
