AAGW is seeking an outgoing, energetic and self-motivated Executive Director. You will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the AAGW according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to positively impact the apartment industry representing over 24,000 rental units, property owners, site staff and supplier partners.
AAGW is a non-profit trade association that serves the rental housing industry. Our mission is to create and foster relationships between the apartment industry, suppliers and the community through education, advocacy, and networking.
Position Overview:
This position reports to the Board of Directors and collaborates with each of the association Committee Chairs to effectively execute AAGW business. The current calendar year Board President serves as the day-to-day supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide
the organization.
Proactively identify, assess, and inform the Board of internal and or external issues that
affect the organization.
Act as an advisor to the Board on all aspects of the organization’s activities.
Work with the National Apartment Association regarding AAGW programs,
requirements, and resources.
In addition to the Board Chair, the Association Executive acts as a spokesperson and
Board Liaison for the organization.
Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with
the Board when appropriate.
Represent AAGW at community activities.
Operational Planning and Management
Work with the Board to develop an operational plan that incorporates goals and
objectives that align with the AAGW’s strategic direction.
Ensure the operation of the organization is efficient and meets the expectations of the Board, the members, and the National Apartment Association.
Collaborate with the applicable committees to:
Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the
organizational policies.
Review existing policies on an annual basis unless otherwise needed.
Recommend policy changes to the Board as appropriate.
Develop and prepare Board Meeting and Supplier Meeting agendas with approval of the Board President.
Program, Activity Planning and Event Management
Assist in the planning, implementation, promotion, execution and evaluation of programs
and activities.
Ensure the AAGW’s programs and activities contribute to the organization’s mission and Board’s priorities.
Monitor the day-to-day delivery of programs and activities of the organization.
Financial Planning and Management
Work with the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget.
Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the organization.
Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed.
Responsible for processing and timely collection of Accounts Receivable invoices.
Process Accounts Payable invoices; Reconcile monthly expense reports and credit card
statements with required documentation.
Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor
the monthly cash flow of the organization.
Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure
of the organization.
Ensure appropriate tax documents are accurate and filed timely.
Risk Management
Ensure the Board understands and is in compliance with the National Apartment
Association requirements.
Ensure the Board and the organization has appropriate, competitively priced insurance
coverage.
Ensure that AAGW complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Required
o Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Hours of Work
The Executive Director role is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Office hours are from 8am to 5 pm. Occasional evening and or weekend activities may occur and require participation.
Occasional travel to National Association Events is also required
Benefits/Compensation:
Salary $40,000 to $50,000 Based on Experience

Company computer, cell phone, and mileage reimbursement for travel to association events.
Paid travel to NAA events.
Pay will depend on experience, skills and/or qualifications.
