Overview

Assist clients in navigating the inpatient mental health system. Coordinates and monitors group activities. Communicate with and problem-solve client complaints. Serve as liaison between clients, staff, and administration and other units. Manage and coordinate unit training for newly hired Mental Health Assistants. Assist Nurse Manager in supervision of MHAs. Coordinate unit functioning with Inpatient Administration. Supervises emergency events as needed.

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Make rounds to follow up on client requests and concerns. Ensures that clients understand all aspects of their care.
• Monitor inpatient units to ensure that clients receive quality care as per Agency, State and Federal guidelines.
• Provides oversight of daily Group Activities and ensures documentation is completed.
• Coordinates Unit training for new MHA and re-training of seasoned MHA as needed.
• Provide MHA supervision; assists with completion of performance evaluations timely; follows through with disciplinary action, including writing communication notes, written supervisory notes, etc.
• Identifies and follows up on needed corrective actions
• Coordinates and monitors designated group activities for EPH, and CSU
• Completes MHA staff assignment sheets for all shifts and communicates this with RN Charge Nurses on each shift either in writing or in person.
• Communicates daily with RN Charge Nurse about staffing and unit management issues.

Education/Experience:

• Master’s degree preferred with a major in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field or bachelors degree.
• Two years of inpatient experience
• Two years of related professional administrative experience in inpatient setting preferred.
• Professional clinical experience in a psychiatric/community mental health setting preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Maintain authorization as an approved Center vehicle driver.
