Apache Workforce is Hiring a Structural Fitter for Material Prep Near Houston, TX
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Structural Fitter for Material Prep will fit, cut, and tack material. In addition, they will need possess the following skills: Measurement and Marking: Accurately measure and mark steel materials according to project specifications using tools such as tape measures, rulers, squares, and marking pencils. Cutting and Shearing: Operate cutting equipment such as chop saw or torches to cut steel materials to the required dimensions, following established cutting procedures and safety guidelines. Drill Holes: Utilize drilling equipment to create holes in metal or other materials as needed for TAS fabrication projects. Grinding and Deburring: Use grinders or other tools to smooth rough edges, remove burrs, and prepare surfaces for welding or further processing. Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare steel surfaces for welding by removing rust, scale, or other contaminants using methods such as wire brushing, sandblasting, or chemical cleaning.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares welding joints Cuts material Fit and tack material required from drawings Fill out inspection reports and requests Conventional and measuring instruments Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools Safety and Housekeeping Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor JOB SKILLS Ability to read blueprints Basic welding Proficiency in math Knowledge of structural shapes and sizes Ability to work with a torch and bevel machining EDUCATION & TRAINING High School diploma MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work performed in a shop environment; Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable; Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials; Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach; The use of Safety Glasses is required; The use of earplugs is recommended; Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week; Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
