Job Objective:
Under the direction of the director of cardiovascular services directs and performs diagnostic inpatient and outpatient adult and pediatric electrocardiography tests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs electrocardiograph (ECG) tests on adult and pediatric patients
- Knows current technique for each specific exam
- Operates all ECG equipment properly and skillfully
- Responsible for the completion of all procedures
- Routinely prepares exams for interpretation by the cardiologist
- Knowledge of chest physiology and anatomy
- Knowledge of the 12 lead ECG tracing including arrhythmias
- Places and removes holter monitors
- Required to work independently
- Required independence during regularly scheduled shifts.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing and evaluating ECG tracings during routine, urgent, and emergency situations
- Demonstrates knowledge regarding special needs and behaviors of age specific groups
- Demonstrates proficiency in required age specific competencies including adult patient tests that include geriatric, obstetric, and mental health patients.
- Demonstrates proficiency in ECG performance of pediatric patients including neonates.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Cerner Cardiology ECG and Stress lab treadmill software including but not limited to matching studies and assigning studies for physician interpretation
- Prepares holter monitor results for interpretation by the cardiologist

Previous ECG experience preferred.
12 lead ECG certificate preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Requires moving ECG equipment throughout the hospital.
