ANSWERS IN GENESIS GROUP is Hiring a Digital Fabricator Near Hebron, KY

Summary: The Digital Fabricator (DF) prepares project files created by the digital artistry team and oversees various machines such as the CNC, Siocast, 3D printers, laser cutters, etc. The DF works closely with the Lead 3D Digital Artist (LDA) and design team management to build projects by verbal instructions, as well as written 2d/3d plan drawings. The DF may be expected to work in areas outside their expertise, being flexible and teachable at all times. Efficiency, quality and safety are of the utmost importance when working with these machines.

They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
  • Approach all tasks with a second-mile mindset.
  • Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
  • Translate concepts into 2D and 3D scale drawings. Proficient in understanding blueprints, construction materials and techniques (familiarity with CAD software).
  • 3-axis CNC router operation and NC file preparation (advanced CAM experience).
  • Follow directions/cut lists with attention to detail when reading design drawings and blueprints to produce exhibits and exhibit elements.
  • Loading/unloading materials onto/off the CNC Machine, keeping a well-organized and clean workspace.
  • Maintain CNC workstation, software licenses and subscriptions.
  • Maintain CNC machine and equipment, including managing CNC tool inventory.
  • Work closely with the digital artistry team to received completed digital model work, preparing these files for next steps (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.)
  • Prioritize file preparation needs as guided by the MDA to complete projects on schedule.
  • Stay knowledgeable and trained in the latest 3D digital programs, processes, techniques and technologies as is relevant to preparing digital files.
  • Coordinate with the MDA on final part needs for the team.
  • Work in a safety focused manner following OSHA guidelines and use of proper PPE.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stay calm and work well under pressure, determine priorities and produce results.
  • Work creatively with others with the ability to give and take from others’ experience.
  • Manage the operation of a variety of machines which execute project needs based on digital files.
  • Have expertise in the use of Siocast machinery, 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC machinery.
  • Oversee the logistics of machine operations to ensure project needs are completed on schedule and under budget.
  • Provide training to team members who will operate these machines, ensuring a safe and efficient operation.
  • Research new machinery technologies to accomplish the everchanging needs of projects, in the most efficient and high-quality ways, along with recommending new machinery to acquire.
  • Ensure machinery is maintained properly ensuring routine maintenance is performed and the work area is kept clean and organized.
  • Able to work swing or second shift hours when needed.
  • Teachable and able to give and take from others’ experience.
  • Able to multitask.
  • Have a strong desire with personal commitment to grow the outreach of Answers in Genesis.
  • Work as a team member with the ministry’s objective.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds or greater.
  • Must safely and effectively utilize dangerous power and hand equipment which may present health hazards if not used properly.
  • Knowledge of various fabrication functions such as welding, cabinetry, mold making, general carpentry, finish carpentry, and spray booth operation/finishing is preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and/or education involving CAD design.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in 3-axis CNC router operation.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with general fabrication duties in a shop setting including the safe operation/care of shop and hand power tools.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Siocast molds, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
  • NC coding experience is a plus.
  • OSHA safety training a plus.
