Another Source’s client, Stanford University, is recruiting a Senior Financial and Budget Analyst to join the Office of the President and Provost team. This is a hybrid opportunity working from the Palo Alto campus. Anticipated Salary Range: $155,000 – $ 180,000 depending on experience. 

What you will be doing: 

Embark on a transformative journey as the Senior Financial and Budget Analyst at the Office of the President and Provost (PPO). In this role, you will take the lead in complex finance functions, from budget accruals to maintaining data models, and be the driving force behind internal control enhancements. You will own pivotal financial processes and projects, contributing to the management of the PPO consolidated budget and supporting 25 administrative units.

Become the subject matter expert, addressing complex financial, policy, procedural, and technical issues. Your role will not only help ensure compliance with policies and procedures but will also play a vital part in the continuous improvement of our financial operations.

How you will be spending your time: 

  • Performing highly analytical, complex finance and control functions; multi-dimensional and complex reconciliations and related analysis; preparing or reviewing and approving complex transactions and higher-level dollar value transactions.
  • Researching, and synthesizing data for broad areas; developing complex financial analyses, budget and forecasting scenarios, long-range planning, and analyses. Performing root-cause analysis and synthesis, drawing conclusions, and proposing solutions.
  • Developing complex financial reports and presentations, design and run ad hoc reports, and preparing or reviewing complex transactions to support the stewardship of university resources. Providing consultation to senior leadership to interpret results.
  • Developing and maintaining a 10-year forecast model; developing strategies for utilizing gifts to maximizing impact and supporting stewardship reporting.
  • Prioritizing, identifying, and resolving strategic and unit/department issues; recognizing exceptions, recommending, and developing resolutions and implementing solutions. Ensuring effective and efficient delivery and integration of all financial services for area of responsibility.
  • Designing an effective system of internal controls for area of responsibility utilizing strategic analysis of interrelationships of financial processes, policies, and procedures; implementing and ensuring compliance programs.
  • Leading multiple complexes, high-visibility process innovation projects. Developing, championing and implementing strategic initiatives with significant impact. Empowering action, removing obstacles, enabling constructive feedback and supporting from leaders, and rewarding and recognizing progress and achievements.
  • Developing, assessing, and continuously improving systems and processes to achieve greater efficiencies and improve internal controls. Designing and providing training on new financial systems.
  • Supporting financial infrastructure building and improvement in distributed units, including planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Analyzing problems in business-critical systems, and identifying risks, solutions, and strategies; act as business owner of project.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced professional communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management.
  • Advanced project management skills and ability to lead large multi-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced and ever-changing environment. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Demonstrated experience with fund accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence and the ability to design ad hoc queries or dashboards for broad use.
  • Experience working in higher education.
