Data Science Director

Reporting directly to the SVP of Tech and located in the Scottsdale office, the Director of Data Science is responsible to help deepen the company's B2B and B2C relationships and impact the company's business strategy with products and solutions, distribution, marketing execution and investment priorities as to how to best leverage the brand. S/he will be responsible for oversight of insights and research, segmentation, reporting, analytics, marketing metrics, campaign measurements and marketing ROI measurement activities for the company on a national and regional basis. S/he will partner closely with internal teams to develop key actionable insights relevant to selling the products through multiple channels.

We are looking for a data scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of third-party data and internal data. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our products to help drive sales.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Hands on Statistical/mathematical reasoning, business communication/leadership, and programming
• Ability to understand business issues and models then translate them into metrics and analysis plans
• A proven track record of triangulating disparate data and turning them into business recommendations and actions
• Practical familiarity with business intelligence, web, digital marketing and CRM analytics
• Proven expertise in setting up processes and systems across a global organization
• Sets the data science strategy and vision, defines, designs and executes the data science framework.
• Develop testing, targeting and measurement roadmap, and monitor contact strategy, channel and products overlap. Exhibit strong analytical, project management, storytelling and communication skills
• Translate analysis insights into actionable recommendations and strategies for omni-channel marketers with emphasis on digital media optimization in conjunction with brand and performance media teams
• Able to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to design and implement solutions that positively impact client results
• Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
• Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
• Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or other quantitative field.
• 10 years of work experience in a quantitative business environment
• 5 years' experience in digital analytics
• Great communication skills
• Proficiency with statistical software (R,Stata, Matlab)
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
• Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase
• Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Expert with Excel & PowerPoint.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Previous financial services / insurance experience
• Familiarity of Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud platform, Google Analytics, Google Ads, website heat mapping, server logs
