Animal Care Specialist

Description:

• Handling mini horses in all areas of their care and wellbeing
• Handling alpacas in all areas of their care and wellbeing
• Assist the animal care team in the care and wellbeing of the chickens & roosters
• Assist the animal care team in the care and wellbeing of the peafowl
• Assisting our students with caring for the animals and learning proper safety protocols
• Displaying proper behavior management strategies at all times with students
• Opportunities to hold camps and events
• Maintaining all facets of animal wellness
• Grooming animals daily and overseeing their needs
• Assisting with barn chores
• Feeding animals and ensuring proper diet including supplements
• Knowledge of equine anatomy
• Assist with vet and farrier appointments
• Facility cleanliness

Part-time position

Requirements:

• Previous experience in animal care is preferred
• Passion for working with animals and providing excellent care.
• 18 years and older
• Equine knowledge and experience
• Long-lining knowledge preferred
• Background check
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Flexibility to work weekends or emergencies
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand/walk 50-75% of the time
• Ability to climb/bend/stoop 50-75% of the time
