Job Description
Nature of Work: To assist the licensed dentist(s), dental hygienist(s), and the Dental Program Manager, in the direct provision of primary care dental services in order to enhance the dental health care provided to our clients and promote oral health care. Requires assisting dentists providing dental care to pediatric ages one to twenty, pregnant women, and adults who are HIV positive.
Must be able to maintain appropriate hygiene and sterilization protocols to prevent contamination and spread of infection; prepare the treatment rooms; take x-rays; take impressions; perform laboratory duties; assist dentist with procedures by aspirating oral cavity, isolating teeth, retracting lips, cheeks, tongue and flaps; take vital signs; provide basic oral hygiene instructions; record and maintain patient histories and dental procedures. Requires answering phones, scheduling appointments, inputting demographic information using the Patterson Eaglesoft Dental Program, confirming Medical Assistance coverage using EVS, greeting patients, and assisting in maintaining adequate dental supply inventories, and any other dental duty as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
Experience: Two years assisting a dentist in the performance of dental care. Bilingual English and Spanish speakers are preferred, but not required. All will be considered.
License or Certification: Must be certified and possess an active Dental Radiation Technologist License from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners (MSBDE). Candidates must successfully complete CPR training. Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and have reliable transportation, as this position will travel between the North County and Annapolis Health Center.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: Two years experience as a dental assistant. Experience working with children. Possesses an active Dental Radiation Technologist License from the MSBDE.
