Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (MB).
Adaptive PE experience.
CPR for the professional rescuer.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teaching gross motor, perceptual motor and sensory motor development.
Knowledge of ability to provide instruction to physically disabled, communicatively disabled, and severely disabled populations.
Ability to communicate successfully with parents and staff. Ability to diagnose, assess prescribe, and evaluate the motor needs of individual students.
Proof of COVID vaccination required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate adaptive physical education instruction to students with
physical, communication, and intellectual disabilities.
Provides regularly scheduled adaptive physical education activities and instruction.
Identifies and provide ongoing assessment of physical and perceptual motor needs.
Develops and write individualized educational programs according to each student's needs.
Evaluates students' growth through review on a consistent basis.
Modifies the IEP as needed.
Consults with teachers, on request, regarding issues related to regular physical education, modified, or Specially Designed Physical Education instruction.
Provides instruction that is congruent with goals and objectives listed on current IEP.
Serves as a member of the IEP team and conferences with parents when appropriate.
Maintains current knowledge of recent instructional trends related to Adaptive Physical Education.
Provides innovative and creative programs that develop self-esteem through successful participation leading to physical independence.
Explores and coordinates special games and/or Special Olympics for students, staff, and/or parents.
Maintains thorough records for each student.
Selects, requisitions, and maintains instructional materials and aids.
Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Confer with students, parents, and school counselor to resolve student problem.
Select, store, order, issue, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education program.
Teach students with disabilities.
Supervises students and aides.
Other duties as assigned.

Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
REASONING ABILITY:Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
