• SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE

Provides quality patient care under the supervision and direction of licensed nursing personnel. Provides direct or indirect nursing care to patients from pediatrics to geriatric populations in the hospital setting.

• SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides personal care such as skin care, turning and positioning, and rooming needs.
• Assists patients with ambulation, transfers and other activities related to visit.
• Obtains and documents vital signs and reports abnormal results to the patient’s nurse.
• Measures and records height and weight.
• Participates in visits with patients as requested by nurse and/or physician, positioning, assist with toileting needs, placement of personal items, positioning of exam light and supply procurement/ stocking.
• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic work environment by minimizing noise, protecting patient privacy,

Maintaining patient rooms free of obstructions, and reporting damaged equipment.

• Follows falls Prevention Protocol and uses Safe Patient Handling equipment as required, lifting no more than 35 pounds unassisted.
• Immediately reports adverse patient reactions to the nurse and intervenes when unsafe, illegal, or unauthorized patient care is observed.
• Observes universal precautions including hand hygiene and any infection control isolation in use.
• Takes an active role in professional development:
• Communicates learning needs to charge nurse or nurse manager.
• Attends 9 hours of continuing education annually (in addition to completion of mandatory programs).
• Attends at least 75% of unit conferences annually.
• Provides assistance with front desk duties to include scheduling assistance, answering phone, and check-in/out.

• Assumes other duties as assigned.

Iii. Education/Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Previous experience (preferred).
