As a Linux Network Engineer at Asphere, you will play a crucial role in designing, configuring, and maintaining our global Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) network across multiple data centers. You will ensure high availability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure to support our extensive RPC product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a robust global network infrastructure using BGP to ensure optimized load balancing and failover capabilities.
• Manage and configure host firewall settings and network configurations across our diverse server fleet to maintain security and operational efficiency.
• Oversee service discovery mechanisms to ensure seamless interconnectivity and communication within the application layer.
• Administer our Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and IP Address Management (IPAM) systems to efficiently manage network resources.
• Monitor network health, analyze traffic patterns, and proactively respond to network incidents to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
• Maintain and cultivate relationships with colocation and transit providers to ensure service reliability and strategic network expansion.
• Continuously update and optimize network configurations to support dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6, including transitioning to IPv6-only environments.

Essential Skills:

• Profound knowledge of routing protocols, especially BGP and OSPF.
• Expertise in managing Linux-based firewalls, including iptables or nftables.
• Proficiency in configuring reverse proxies such as Envoy, Nginx, or Traefik.
• Experience with network performance monitoring tools and techniques.
• Strong practical experience with BIRD Internet routing daemon and Blister BGP management framework.

Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with orchestration systems like Kubernetes or Nomad is advantageous but not central to the role.
• Capability to develop automation tools and scripts, preferably with Ansible or Python, to streamline network operations.
