Animal Medical Center New Braunfels is Hiring a Kennel Technician/Veterinary Assistant Near New, TX

We are a 3 doctor, privately owned, full-service veterinary hospital in New Braunfels, looking to add more members to our growing team. A part-time position may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

We are looking for a candidate with a long-term commitment goal, a fairly open schedule, and a desire to form relationships with our clients and their pets to help us provide the best care possible for them.

Kennel technician/Veterinary Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people and providing humane handling and care for all clinic pets. Assures all animals' nutrition, housing and medical needs are met on a daily basis. Assists the public when admitting boarders, hospitalized pets and drop offs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

-Feed, walk, exercise, and bathe animals as needed in our care

-Clean up after animals both inside and outside the facility and clean animal runs and cages as needed; this includes scooping/cleaning poop and cleaning up urine

-Maintain the clinic as a whole by performing tasks including, but not limited to, sweeping/mopping floors, wiping down counters, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, laundry and dusting

-Assists other staff members and Doctors with tasks such as helping restrain an animal, helping clients with their pets, etc

-Availability should include weekdays, most weekends, and occasional holidays.

Skills and Abilities:

-Effectively communicate in the English language (both written and spoken)

-Accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide

-Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or check list form

-Regularly stand for extended periods

-Frequently walk, stoop, kneel or crouch

-Lift and/or carry 50 pounds with out assistance

-Maintain confidence around pets and clients

-Use cleaning materials with skill and efficiency

-Sympathetically and patiently help treat sick and injured animals

-Maintain cooperative relationships with other staff members and Doctors

-Recognize and record any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of any pet in clinic

-Records input/output of boarding/hospitalized or drop off pets

Experience, Education, and/or Training:

-Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade

-Previous experience in a veterinary hospital / setting is highly preferred

-Valid Texas Driver's License

Animal Medical Center of New Braunfels is located 516 FM 306 New Braunfels, Texas 78130. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 7am-6pm and Saturdays 7am-12pm. Please email your resume for consideration.
