Do you have a passion for animal welfare? Are you a good communicator with a sincere desire to help animals find their forever homes? Then, we may have a job for you. Animal Friends is seeking part-time adoption counselors to help find loving homes for dogs, cats, and rabbits in need. 

Essential Functions:

• The function of the Adoption Counselor is to assist:
  • The public in all phases of the adoption process.
  • Fosters in all phases of the foster process.
• Participate in the adoption process, including:
  • 1) Proactively assisting prospective owners in the selection of animals while promoting animals to the adopting public. 
  • 2) Engage with potential adopters and provide ample matchmaking counseling to ensure adopters have the highest chance of success post-adoption.
  • 3) Advising adopters of Animal Friends’ contractual requirements, medical and behavioral disclaimers, and the various forms of support we are able to offer.
  • 4) Provide appropriate follow-up support for adopters where needed.
• Participate in the Foster process, including:
  • 1) Help schedule and send out resident animals to foster when appropriate.
  • 2) Assist in procuring supplies and other resources for fosters.
  • 3) Provide support or help direct fosters that require additional assistance.
  • 4) Help facilitate meet-and-greets between fosters and their potential foster animals.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• High school diploma 
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Previous customer service and/or public relations experience required.
• Must be able to work in a team setting and also able to handle difficult situations independently.
• Animal handling experience preferred but not required.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational ability and time management skills.
• Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft programs such as but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Must be able to work special events including, but not limited to: New Year’s Eve Rescue and Black Tie & Tails
