Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating engaging activities for our assists people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, and/or mental health diagnosis in a variety of programs with a focus on person-centered practices. Your role will involve creating a positive and stimulating environment that promotes social interaction, physical well-being, and emotional support. Performs all the functions of a Direct Support Professional and assists the Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our clients.
- Plan and organize a variety of recreational activities, events, and outings to enhance the quality of life for residents.
- Coordinate with staff members to ensure the smooth execution of activities and maintain a safe environment.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Manage and maintain activity supplies, equipment, and resources.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members to ensure their needs are met.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate activities into the overall care plan.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident preferences and tailor activities accordingly.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make necessary adjustments.
Skills:
- Previous experience in caregiving or social work is preferred.
- Knowledge of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and experience in assisting residents with these tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and staff.
- Proficient in event planning and coordination.
