Anduril Industries is Hiring a Flight Systems Engineering Manager Near Atlanta, GA

At Anduril in Atlanta we are developing unmanned aerial systems capable of terminal guidance, long range intelligence collection, precision navigation, and unsupervised autonomy. Altius platforms are built to operate in remote environments with limited user input, driving requirements for reliability and autonomy. These projects will be diverse in nature and require you to leverage your technical expertise as well as leadership skills to set objectives, build a team, and drive to completion. The ability to leverage your intuition and prior experience in programmatic level decision will play a key component in making sure the right design/analysis/ and test steps are being completed to ensure success without simply completing steps for the sake of the process that don’t add value.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Manages the daily operations of the Flight Systems Engineering group comprised of Flight Sciences engineers and Systems Engineers.
    • Develops the model-based systems engineering architecture for the ALTIUS platform
    • Leads using technical planning; system integration, verification and validation
    • Direct hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance monitoring, test automation, and data analysis
    • Approve, develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), System Design Documents (SDDs), System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), Test and evaluation master plans, subsystem and integration test plans, acceptance test plans etc
    • Verify avionics system test coverage on flight or flight-representative hardware at the system-level and validate product performance
    • Support software and firmware team’s development effort with an understanding of flight controls, sensing, payload integration, power management, and networking
    • Work with senior leadership to ensure resource plans are adequate for work scope.
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks
    • System safety analyses: identification and mitigation of hazards related to hardware, software, interfaces, personnel, operations and environment; and root cause and failure effects analyses
    • Assist systems engineers to ensure professional quality and technical sufficiency of contract deliverables.
    • Requirements documentation, trade studies, and traceability verification
    • Technical data and drawing packages
    • Develop relationships with subsystem vendors
    • Facilitate multi-disciplinary efforts within and across programs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS from an accredited institution in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines
    • Proficient in Cameo/MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
    • Proficient in IBM Rational DOORS
    • 5 years of experience leading engineers and program life cycles
    • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
    • Deep understanding of unmanned aircraft at Group 2 class
    • Experience in a senior role leading air vehicle programs from initial concept through test and delivery to customers
    • Strong understanding of the “why” behind Vehicle and Systems design
    • Experience designing, testing, and validating new aircraft hardware, firmware, and software systems
    • Understanding and familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461
    • Experience as an engineering subject matter expert for aircraft or UAS programs
    • Experience working on mission critical DOD systems
    • Experience creating teams and focusing them around a common vision
    • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed systems
    • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
    • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
    • Experience in the electrical integration of avionics modules and payloads into UAV systems
    • 10 years of experience designing, testing and troubleshooting complex defense-oriented systems
    • Understanding of relevant avionics design standards for UAVs
    • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
    • Familiarity with aircraft avionics module vendors and component suppliers from previous experience in UAV programs
    • Strong understanding of software and avionics components and their interactions in UAS applications

Salary Range: $154,700 - $232,050
