Must have a Bachelors degree in human service field. Two years of post degree experience in mental health services required and/or criminal justice experience preferred.
The individual will complete client screenings to determine presence of mental illness and likelihood of competency to stand trial. This person will complete psychosocial assessments, uniform assessments, individualized recovery plans, and other intake documentation and assessments as required by contract and agency. The individual will also provide case management, psychosocial rehab/skills training, competency restoration (legal skills training), and court advocacy when serving as an overflow case manager for the OCR team when caseloads are at capacity or as needed during times of alternate coverage for team.
This person will be required to visit individuals in jails, home, and clinic settings. Ability to work with persons with disabilities, to assess consumer needs, to establish service plans, to make productive referrals, to advocate for consumers, and to work independently and effectively is necessary. The individual will be required to work closely together with OCR case managers and program coordinator to assure program compliance and consumer success. Must be able to cope with frustration, to work non-judgmentally with consumers, and to respond to changing needs of consumers. Knowledge of and ability to work effectively with community resources. This position may require the employee to drive representing the Center and therefore must have current Texas driver's license and meet insurability criteria.
