The Assistant Director of Admission serves as a key member of Andrews Osborne Academy’s admission, enrollment, and financial aid team. Responsibilities include recruiting day students in grades 9-12 & PG and all boarding students grades 7-12 & PG (domestic and international), building and maintaining relationships with educational consultants and international agents, overseeing traditional duties related to admission and enrollment management, and promoting the school through marketing and branding efforts.The Assistant Director of Admission plays a critical role in attracting a diverse and talented student body that will help advance the mission and vision of the school.
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Domestic and International Travel: The Assistant Director of Admission will travel domestically and internationally to promote AOA, recruit new students, and attend high school fairs, educational conferences, and meetings with international agents (minimum 10-12 weeks).
  • Establish and Maintain Relationships: The Assistant Director of Admission will establish and maintain relationships among all school constituents in addition to external constituents such as local schools, educational consultants and international agents in target markets to attract students to AOA. They will also work with parents and students to understand their needs and provide guidance on the admission process.
  • Traditional Admission and Enrollment Management: The Assistant Director of Admission is responsible for the admission process for prospective students (day students grades 9-12 & PG and all boarding students), including reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and making admission recommendations to the Admission Committee. They will also assist in scheduling appointments, communicating with families about their status, and processing enrollment paperwork. They are responsible for SEVIS and all I-20 needs for international students.
  • Marketing and Branding: The Assistant Director of Admission will work closely with the Director of Admission and the Director of Marketing & Communications to create marketing materials and promote AOA through social media and other marketing channels. They provide support for the development of events and activities promoting the school, including in-person customized tours, information sessions, and family and student on-boarding.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: The Assistant Director of Admission will analyze enrollment data, develop reports, and make recommendations to improve the admission process and enrollment management.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Director of Admission & Financial Aid and the Head of School
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Director of Admission needs to work collaboratively with faculty/staff and other admission team members to achieve admission and enrollment goals. They will provide guidance and mentorship to staff members as needed. The candidate will participate in weekend duties every 6 weeks with a team of faculty and staff to chaperone student activities.
Working ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions. Domestic and international travel required. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Special Knowledge/SkillsThe Assistant Director of Admission should have the following special knowledge and skills:
  • Experience in independent school day and boarding admissions (domestic and international): The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in domestic and international admissions or a related field preferred. They should have knowledge of the local community, international recruitment, educational consultants, and international agents. A Bachelor’s degree is required (degree in Business, Education, or Marketing preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills: The Assistant Director of Admission should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. They should be able to present information clearly, concisely, and persuasively to prospective students, families, educational consultants, and international agents.
  • Marketing and branding experience: The ideal candidate should have experience in marketing and branding, including the ability to create marketing materials and promote the school through social media and other marketing channels.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills: The Assistant Director of Admission should have strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze enrollment data, develop reports, and make recommendations to improve the admission process and enrollment management. They should be proficient with relevant software programs (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) and have experience with databases (Blackbaud’s Enrollment Management module, Blackbaud Tuition Management, SEVIS).
  • Organizational skills: The Assistant Director of Admission should have strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills: The Assistant Director of Admission should be energetic and have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse audiences, work collaboratively with other team members, and provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members.
  • Cultural sensitivity: The Assistant Director of Admission should be culturally sensitive, aware of cultural differences, and able to work with international students and families from diverse backgrounds. They should be able to adapt to different cultural norms and customs and build trust and rapport with local and international students and families.
