Description Provides a highly structured program of instruction in the following areas: activities of daily living, social-behavioral skills and pre-academic or readiness skills. Responsibilities -Designs and implements behavior management programs for a range of behaviors (self-stimulating, acting out...). -Provides an individual instructional program for each child in conjunction with general and specific objectives of each educational plan. -Demonstrates a proficiency in precision teaching, such that basic skills are broken down into small sequential steps for instruction. -Provides assistance in toileting, personal hygiene and/or feeding as required by students. -Submits quarterly reports and summaries to parents, Core Evaluation Team, Program Head and principals. -Submits an expense budget for the operation of the class, recommends purchasing priorities to the Program Head and completes yearly inventory of materials and supplies. -Consults on a regular basis with specialist or personnel involved in the child's program, i.e. speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist. -Holds a minimum of three conferences with parents for the purpose of reviewing each child's progress as compared to goals set forth in his/her educational plan. -Develops appropriate sections of individualized educational plans as designated by the Liaison or Program Head. -Participates in all regular school functions at direction of the building principal. -Participates in monthly staff meetings conducted by the Program Head. -Provides instruction regarding physical needs and safety procedures of handicapped students to non-professional personnel, i.e. swimming instructors, bus drivers. -Submits, as directed, to Program Head necessary written information, e.g. schedules, logs of time spent in Core Evaluation meetings, etc. Qualifications -Massachusetts Teaching Certification. -Certification as Teacher of School Age Children with Severe Special Needs. -Experience in teaching students with severe developmental delays preferred. -Expertise in designing and implementing behavioral management programs.
