Position Overview: APS Geo is seeking a talented Construction Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in interpreting geospatial data-field inspections, performing field tests, conducting analysis, and generating meaningful insights to support our clients' needs. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality geotechnical services. Headquarters/office location for this role may Lawrenceburg, IN.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Material Testing: Perform various tests on construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, steel, and soil to ensure they meet project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Control Procedures: Implement and oversee quality control procedures for the handling, storing, and using construction materials to prevent damage and ensure usability.
  • Review Material Specifications and Documentation: Examine and verify material specifications, test reports, and certificates of compliance to ensure that all materials used in construction projects are suitable and meet required standards.
  • Inspect Material Deliveries: Inspect deliveries of construction materials to the job site to ensure they match the approved samples, specifications, and quantities.
  • Monitor Construction Practices: Observe construction practices to ensure that materials are used correctly and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
  • Report and Document Findings: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, test results, and actions taken. Prepare and submit reports to construction managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Project Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure material quality and compliance throughout the construction process.
  • Analyze geospatial data to extract relevant information and identify patterns or trends.
  • Utilize GIS software and tools to review and create maps, models, and visualizations.
  • Review geotechnical engineering plans and reports upon construction to address certain project requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, project management, contractors, and other internal teams to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Standards: Continuously update knowledge on industry standards, new testing methods, and regulations related to construction materials through professional development opportunities.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of geotechnical data.
  • Stay updated on advancements in geospatial technology and methodologies to enhance analytical capabilities and maintain industry best practices.
  • Communicate findings and insights effectively through written reports, presentations, and visualizations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, or related field is preferred.
  • Material technician certifications: ACI, ICC Soils, other.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with spatial analysis techniques and geospatial data processing is a plus.
  • Work experience in CAD is a plus.
  • Ability to prepare technical drawings and plans is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
