POSITION: Parks Department Ranger

DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation

PAY GRADE: $16/hour- PART TIME

Our 2024 schedule will be:

May 25-July 23 & July 30-31, open daily 9 AM-8 PM

August 3-September 2: Saturday & Sunday only 9 AM-8 PM, plus Labor Day Monday

Additionally, they work at fishing tournaments at Green Pond Landing & Event Center & other park projects as needed

Responsibilities:

Rangers are the face of Anderson County to our residents and visitors. They’re responsible for enforcing KidVenture 2.0 Playground & Splash Pad rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for users. Rangers are responsible for opening, operating, and closing the facility.

Job Functions:

Monitor the Playground & Splash Pad, enforcing the safety rules & guidelines to ensure a safe & enjoyable user experience.
Respond quickly to incidents/accidents, addressing them in an appropriate manner by using the on-site first aid kit or calling 911 for more serious situations.
Monitor inclement weather. Close the Splash Pad when the on-site lightning detector sounds an alert. Re-open when an all-clear message is received from the lightning detector.
Perform hourly litter pick-up at the Playground & Splash Pad. Ensure the facility is attractive, clean & safe.
Perform hourly blower sweep of the Playground & Splash Pad to keep woodchips out of the fall zones.
Work fishing tournaments at Green Pond Landing & Event Center.
Work other park projects as needed.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Other Job Functions:

Must be able to withstand heat & humidity.
Position requires standing, bending, stooping, reaching & lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
Applicants will need to take a drug test and pass a criminal background check before being hired.

Supervision:

Rangers work under the direction of the Parks Dept. Manager.
