Lead Material Flow Engineer Job Description

Overall Responsibility:

Responsible for Value Stream Mapping, continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical support to Operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Operations/Engineering

• Responsible for continuous improvement project(s), material handling optimization which would include: analysis of cycle time, scrap reduction, and equipment.
• Develop and utilize Value Stream Mapping and the 8 Wastes for all existing programs as well as new programs
• Assist with Development of Container Management system
• Interaction with all departments for all relevant Material Flow/VSM/8 Waste improvement projects.
• Maintain Plant Layout and material flow documentation. Perform and document Risk Assessments for all new & modified Material flow/storage projects
• Provide training and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
• Provide support, recommendations and troubleshooting skills for production associates, maintenance team members, Materials team members and existing processes.
• Support Quality Department through participation in PDCA root cause analysis.
• Utilize PowerBi to drive future improvements in our system
• Assist with implementation of WCM Pillars
• Assist with implementation of Dojo area utilizing Six Sigma training principles

Skills, Knowledge, & Personal Traits:

• 5 years of experience working within a Manufacturing Environment (Preferably Automotive)
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
• Proficient in AutoCAD & 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks
• Detail oriented

• Advanced problem solving and analytical skills

• Advanced organizational and planning skills

• Working knowledge of FMEA's

• Strong technical aptitude

• Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.

• Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.

• Other duties as assigned.
