The Director, Product, Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum Adoptions will be the leader of the vision, product strategy, and roadmap for adoptions and customization for CKLA and Caminos, Amplify's leading elementary literacy curricula for English Language Arts and Spanish Language Arts. The Director will own product planning and execution in research, design, and development of K-5 Core Literacy products built to serve key adoption markets. The Director will create and own the product roadmap aligned to key drivers and anticipated developments in our K-5 Core Literacy adoption markets.

Partnering with Literacy leadership and other company stakeholders, the Director will develop and lead research strategies that inform market fit for adoption opportunities. The Director will help the company determine where and what to invest and develop. The Director will develop the vision for state-specific programs, lead concept exploration, testing, and prototyping, build the product strategy, and ensure strong tactical execution against that plan. The Director will work closely with Product Management and Content leadership to leverage the national programs with the goal of investment efficiency.

The Director will work with leaders from across departments to ensure the design and development of the program adheres to the product vision and remains aligned to customer needs in each adoption market. The Director will be responsible for directing team resources and budget toward high-value initiatives. The Director will serve as the champion and voice of the program with internal and external stakeholders for each state-specific program, working closely with the teams who help market, launch, sell, and support the program.

The Director will be a key member of the product leadership team for Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum and will report directly to the AVP, Product, Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum.

Responsibilities of the Director, Product, Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum Adoptions:

Develop and Own Adoption Strategy and Roadmap - Working closely with the AVP, Product and Sales leadership, create and maintain the state adoption plan and timeline. Present state adoption roadmap to internal stakeholders to ensure buy-in on market fit, product strategy, investment and return.

Lead State-Specific Market Research - Set research strategy and plan for adoption states, partnering with marketing, market research, curriculum, sales, and other K-5 core literacy product managers collect insights, understand market trends and requirements. Present insights to stakeholders and use market intelligence to direct product strategy and requirements. Work with Government Relations and Sales to exhaustively understand state expectations for product and submissions, including new legislation, processes, and adoption requirements. Stay up to date on the trends in the K-5 literacy education market in adoption states and prepare briefs to share with leadership and the product team. Research the competitive product landscape to inform product, design, and development decisions. Integrate research findings into strategic planning and product development.

Business Strategy - Leveraging market knowledge and data gained through research, develop business plans for custom editions of CKLA and Caminos that maximize market penetration while carefully balancing investment versus anticipated return. Consider the research, development, and manufacturing costs to present investment recommendations to literacy leadership and stakeholders. Work with Project Management and team leads, such as Content, Design, and Digital Production, to develop the staffing and resource plans needed to deliver on state editions. Oversee project budget and make recommendations to the AVP, Product to align spend and resources toward the highest priorities and biggest return.

Product Research and Design - Lead the product team to concept, design, and build out initiatives that target state-specific gaps and opportunities. Create and pitch initiatives grounded in research for inclusion in the product roadmap. Build a strategy for user testing of new product ideas and designs, including interviews, focus groups, advisors, and advisory boards. Lead planning and execution of prototype development and validation through user experience testing and live classroom sessions. Create research plans, interview participants, analyze data, and recommend actions based on findings.

Build Customer and Sales Relationships - Working with the Government Relations and Sales teams, forge strong relationships with key districts in adoption states to build direct channels for insights and feedback. When possible, connect with state literacy education leaders to understand state-level educational trends. Work closely with the adoption state sales teams to collaborate on research, events/conferences, adoption roadmaps, and product strategy.

International - Work with the International business and sales team to develop strategies for expanding K-5 Core Literacy products' reach into new markets outside of the United States.

Team Leadership - Communicate product goals and objectives regularly to your project team to motivate them, and empower them to take on work they think is best based on the prioritized backlog. Support team members where necessary to overcome challenges and find solutions.

Product Development - Serve as the leader of your cross-functional team to plan, develop, and deliver finished products. Actively participate in your team's ceremonies and be readily available to address questions, concerns, and blockers. Partner with teams such as Project Management, Content, Design, and Digital Production to ensure regular coordination of features and product design guidelines throughout the product development phase. Collaborate with K-5 literacy supplemental, assessment & intervention, and platform teams on the development of new features and functionality, prioritization and sequencing of deliverables on the platform roadmap, and advocating for needs for state adoptions.

Basic Qualifications of the Director, Product, Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum Adoptions:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of experience in K-12 product development

  • Experience designing and developing print and digital products for education

  • Proven research and analysis skills

  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong relationship builder

  • Strategic thinker

  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Director, Product, Literacy, K-5 Core Curriculum Adoptions:

  • Advanced degree

  • Classroom teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or high school level

  • Background in literacy education or related field

  • Background in technology, design, user experience, and product management

  • Client service experience either in consulting or another field

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

What we offer:

The gross annualized salary range for this role is $140,000- $165,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
