We'll begin with 4 and add an additional if necessary.Will also accept: 18 months of experience (LTAC/Rehab okay) with at least 6 months of MedSurg (prefers MS to be recent)Staff has to be gone for 3 months before returning as a traveler. From last shift worked to start dateWill be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation. 6 North Trauma SurgicalBeds: 23Patient Types: General Surgery, Cholecystectomy, Ostomy, Splenectomy, Vascular surgeriesPatient Ratios: 1:5-6Skills required: At least 1 year of trauma experience. Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation and escalations 5 South NeuroscienceBeds: 33Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram, post ICUPatient Ratios: 1:5-6Skills required: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy, Wound Care, Chest tube, Surgical Site Care, C-Collar, Abdominal Binders, Restraints 5 North MedSurg/OncologyBeds: 39 (very busy unit)Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, behavioral patients. MS/Oncology patients1:6 for RN and LPNsSkills required: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, behavioral issues, codes, IV starts; Chemo administration, if certifiedTele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on ground floor 4 South Clinical Decision UnitBeds: 18Patient Types: General patient population hospitalized for various causes, such as illness, surgery, testing, or observationCOPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, Pneumonia, Renal Failure, Sepsis, UTI, End of Life ComfortPatient Ratios: 1:6Skills required: Assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills.Tracheotomy care, Suctioning, O2 Therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, External catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints. 3 South OrthopedicsBeds: 20Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine: Joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies, etc.Patient Ratios: 1:5; 1:6 if medsurgSkills required: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains) 3 North MS/Ortho/UrologyBeds: 23Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurgPatient Ratios: Team Nursing 1:8 (1 RN: 1 LPN: 8 patients); 1:6Skills Required: Trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven foley protocol.
