Ammons & Blackmon Construction is Hiring a Pipelayer Near Spanish Fort, AL

Job Duties and Tasks:

  • Participate in daily JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) before beginning work.
  • Confirm that the days materials have been accounted for and near the construction area.
  • Align and position pipe in the trench to prepare joining the section of pipe to the run of pipe with hands and shovels.
  • Install fittings and valves in accordance with the manufacture’s recommendations.
  • Check pipe slopes for conformance to slope requirements of the pipe laser.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths.
  • Grade and level areas where structures go using a shovel and tamper.
  • Set structure bases, riser sections, tops, rims, covers, and inverts according to the IFC Drawings.
  • Operate front end loaders, and backhoes if qualified.

Job Activities:

  • Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Job Skills Required:

  • Being able to read and understand plan sets.
  • Confirm the pipe run layout is correct prior to start of work daily.
  • Being able to set up a pipe laser.
  • Distributing materials along the pipe route.
  • Being able to assemble fittings, valves, and fire hydrant assemblies.

Abilities needed to be a Pipe Layer:

  • Trunk Strength: Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support parts of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.

Knowledge, Experience, and Education Required:

  • Knowledge of use, repair, and maintenance of machines and tools to perform as a pipelayer daily.
  • 2 Years of experience of means and methods and tools involved in the construction of a pipeline system.
  • A minimum education of a high school diploma or GED.
