POSITION SUMMARY: The Packer prepares customer orders for shipping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.
  • Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.
  • Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
  • Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.
  • Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.
  • Properly stencils shipping information as required.
  • Provides maintenance and keeps records of Maintenance on all equipment assigned.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and telephone keypad. The employee must frequently lift 25 pounds and

occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work irregular hours.
