Amherst Regional Middle School is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Amherst, MA

The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the full time position of a School Psychologist for the Amherst Regional Middle School. The candidate will have expertise in conducting evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and working as part of the team to develop IEPs. The person will be working closely with a team of personnel including Special and General Education teachers, Guidance Counselors, School Adjustment Counselors, Education Team Leaders, Educational Academic Specialist, Speech and Language Pathologists to help support students with diverse learning profiles to access their education and make progress towards meeting their individual goals. Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills will be needed as this person will be working as a member of a team to support student success.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Conduct initial and triennial evaluations to determine special education eligibilityPreparing and presenting comprehensive evaluation reports including cognitive and social/emotional assessmentServing as a Team member for IEP meetingsComplete mandatory documentation paperwork from Team meetingContributing to the development and writing of Individualized Educational PlansRegular communication and collaboration with staff /administration involved in the Team processKnowledge of transition planning and development of plans to support post-secondary goalsEngage and partner with families involved in the IEP Team processProvide IEP counseling services to a small caseloadCollaboration and working as a member of a team with other school personnelCompleting crisis assessments such as self-harm screenings and threat assessmentsCommunication and engagement with families and outside agencies and providersAttending school meetings (CST, department, faculty, etc.)Familiarity with trauma-informed practicesKnowledge and expertise in designing and providing multi-tiered systems of support for social/emotional learning and mental health issuesAttending district-wide meetings (School Psychologist) and trainingsAttend district-wide trainings and Special Education department meetingsQualificationsMassachusetts School Psychologist Education certificationExpertise conducting psychological and psycho-ed evaluationsExperience with culturally diverse populationsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsBilingual candidates with multicultural proficiency preferred
