Amherst Pelham Regional School District is Hiring an ARMS BRYT Clinician/School Adjustment Counselor Near Amherst, MA
The Amherst Regional Middle School is seeking a highly skilled clinician to provide in-school counseling services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The clinician will coordinate the BRYT (Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition) program for the school and carry a counseling caseload that may include students with counseling as a related service on their IEP or students in need of Tier 2 counseling services. The BRYT program is designed to provide clinical and academic supports to students returning to or transitioning back into school after an experience that has had significant mental health impact and resulted in a loss of school engagement time. The BRYT/Clinician/School Adjustment Counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities: ? Works with the Principal, other school leaders, and external support organizations to develop and continuously improve a program dedicated to successful transition into ARMS for students who have experienced significant mental health challenges and have missed extensive amounts of school time. ? Develops and ensures effective implementation of a comprehensive transition plan integrating clinical, care coordination, and academic supports for each student in the BRYT Program; is primarily responsible for implementation of the care coordination components of the overall plan. ? Organizes and facilitates meetings with staff of collateral support organizations prior to and during students’ participation in BRYT. ? Develops and implements the clinical, care coordination, and family engagement components of the overall case management plan for each student in BRYT. ? Provides 1:1 and/or small-group clinical intervention to BRYT students on a flexible, as-needed basis, employing clinical methods that are most appropriate for meeting the goals in each student’s case management plan. ? Pro-actively communicates with educator colleagues and school administrators regarding the progress and status of each student in BRYT, maintaining student confidentiality as appropriate. ? Engages in consistent two-way communication with the families of BRYT students to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to support student learning and well-being, including making home visits to families where appropriate. ? Maintains a program environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. ? Monitors progress of BRYT students who have transitioned out of the program. ? Assures that all required data is gathered and entered into data management systems according to program procedures. Participates in meetings with staff of collateral support organizations prior to and during students’ participation in BRYT. ? Pro-actively and communicates with educator colleagues and school administrators regarding the progress and status of each student in BRYT, maintaining student confidentiality as appropriate. ? Engages in consistent two-way communication with the families of BRYT students to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to support student learning and well-being. ? Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for BRYT paraeducators. ? Provide group and individual counseling services for caseload ? Design and deliver tiered supports and interventions ? Case management services for assigned counseling caseload ? Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues ? Provide crisis intervention when needed ? Do behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plans ? Family communication and collaboration as part of service delivery planning and services ? Collaborate and consult with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies and interventions appropriate for students and communication regarding progress monitoring ? Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student’s service delivery Other Duties and Responsibilities: ? Self-harm and threat assessment screenings as indicated ? Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainings ? Perform other related duties as required ? Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal Qualifications: ? Master’s Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider field ? Formal training and experience working with adolescents and families struggling with complex challenges, including mental health challenges ? Excellent case management skills ? Demonstrated skill and experience providing setting clinical goals and providing direct clinical supports to adolescents in the school setting, including collaborating with collateral/community- based mental health providers ? Demonstrated skill and experience working with parents/guardians from an assets/strengths- based perspective ? Demonstrated effectiveness with development and continuous improvement of student support programming within a school environment MA ESE School Adjustment Counselor certification or eligibility for certification required.
