Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools is Hiring a Computer Education Teacher Near Amherst, MA

The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the part-time Computer Education Teacher position at the Amherst Regional High School (ARHS) for the 2024-2025 school year. ARHS serves students in grades 9-12. This is a 33% (0.33 FTE) teaching position with classes scheduled five days per week. The teaching assignment will consist of courses in computer programming (beginning to advanced), computer graphics, robotics, and web design.

Qualified candidates will possess intellectual curiosity, an aptitude for learning, a commitment to ongoing professional development, an eagerness to extend oneself for others, and a sense of humor. They will have a passion for helping all students, regardless of background or identity, to understand computer science and computer programming. Evidence of experience managing a roomful of teenagers is equally desired. Candidates must have computer programming experience and be able to teach the following technologies:

  • Python
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • MIT App Inventor

The strongest candidates will also be well-versed in:

  • Scratch
  • Arduino/LilyPad
  • Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Microsoft Office
  • Google Apps for Education

A teaching license in Digital Literacy/Computer Science, Grades 5-12, from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, is required.
