Amherst County Government is Hiring a Part-time Scale House Attendant (Madison Heights, VA) Near Madison, VA

The County of Amherst Public Works Department is hiring part-time scale house attendants to work at the County landfill. The position performs semi-skilled work setting up the computer, weighing incoming trucks, checking residency of customers, answering questions and directing customers to the proper area, collecting fees and issuing receipts, and maintaining files and records.The position requires the ability to:

Meet and communicate effectively with the general public and solid waste haulers
Inspect vehicles for unauthorized and/or hazardous wastes
Operate a vehicle weigh scale
Enter data in a computerized records and billing system
Maintain facility and customer account records

A high school diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of computers and clerical experience is required. Experience in a customer service environment is preferred. Must be punctual and have reliable work attendance. County positions are subject to drug testing and a criminal history background check.
