What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will support the implementation of US Medical strategy and tactics, under the guidance of the US Medical Team Leader (Asset-Lead). Key core responsibilities include: implementing strategy and managing tactics for the patient-education program, overseeing implementation of the US digital communication strategy, supporting medical field team training, and coordinating congress logistics across medical and non-medical functions.

  • Assisting the US Medical-Asset Leader in the execution of US product medical strategy, via implementation of the US Medical Plan. Activities include developing tactics aligned with the US strategy and supporting indications via support of US Launch Readiness Teams;
  • Developing and leading asthma patient-education program in partnership with Medical field team and Scientific communication team;
  • Developing and coordinating the US Digital communication strategy with key internal and cross-partnership team members;
  • Leading US medical congress preparations, including logistics / medical field coordination and engagement with external stakeholders, especially US key opinion leaders (KOLs), US patient advocacy groups and US professional societies;
  • Helping to identify scientific and clinical outcomes evidence gaps and assisting in the development of US evidence generation strategy, in coordination with the Global team
  • Safety and pharmacovigilance as a key and effective partner with Global Regulatory Affairs and Strategy (GRAAS) team

Key Activities:

  • Enhances Amgen‘s value proposition of respective product(s) through management of delegated US medical and scientific activities, in alignment with US medical strategy;
  • Assist in the development of US cross functional strategy and support medical execution of tactics.
  • Support distribution of data and disease state education communication strategies, with special focus on digital strategies and measurement of impacts (metrics)
  • Provide analysis and context for Medical field team-collected insights and ensure appropriate incorporation into US Medical Plan tactics
  • Contribute Medical / Scientific input into Value Dossiers, compendia and interactions with payers in collaboration with Value, Access and Policy (VA&P) team
  • Provide input into medical value and access strategy, asset development and field team training for Payer medical engagements.
  • May participate in speaking engagements that represent Amgen to external and internal bodies on medical and scientific issues related to relevant product(s)
  • Ensure understanding and incorporation of patient perspectives in all activities.
  • Support external Stakeholder Strategy
  • Participate in advocacy from a medical perspective in partnership with Commercial, Government Affairs and Commercial Communications
  • Build Amgen‘s reputation as a science-based and patient-focused reliable partner
  • Ensure appropriate medical review in coordination with compliance function; accountable for the conduct of medical activities according to all relevant compliance standards, regulations and SOP`s; Role models appropriate and compliant behaviors and contributes to creating a climate of compliance adherence across the organization

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of relative experience

OR

Master’s degree and 8 years of relative experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relative experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accredited fellowship in Allergy and Immunology (board certified or board eligible), Otolaryngology (board certified or board eligible) or Pulmonology (board certified or board eligible) OR completed post-doctoral research in biomedical research
  • Demonstrated ability as a medical expert in a complex matrix environment
  • Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with understanding of other functions; including, but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Safety, Regulatory, Value & Access, and Medical Affairs
  • Experience in regional/local medical practice and healthcare ecosystems
  • Skilled at engagement, scientific exchange with external medical community
  • Clinical research experience
  • Scientific publication experience (developing manuscripts and/or congress abstracts)
  • In-depth understanding of the scientific method and clinical applications based on medical, scientific and practical rationale
  • Familiarity with concepts of clinical research and clinical trial design, including biostatistics
  • Sound scientific and clinical judgement
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), region regulations and guidelines, and applicable international regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity of local pharmaceutical industry and legal/health system environment
  • Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication
  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues
  • Network of medical, clinical contacts in inflammation, allergy-immunology, otolaryngology, or pulmonology

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
