The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (Triton)-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $79,000.00-$105,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team is a government run organization that develops an advanced suite of software products supporting modeling and simulation (M&S) environments. The SEM product users include trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is the flagship product. NGTS is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development. All products are government owned, developed and managed.

A typical day as a Software Developer (Triton)-Junior may include:

• Supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments/trainer systems/test and evaluation (T&E)
• Analyses live/virtual and constructive (LVC)/research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners
• Develops simulation software/Graphical User Interface (GUI)/multi-threaded applications/Applications Programming Interface (API) based on formal and informal customer requirements
• Documents simulation software interfaces/software acceptance testing for users/modeling and simulation verification and validation tasks

Must-haves:

• BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering-Degrees in Engineering, Math and Physics may qualify with at least 1 year of C /Linux experience
• 1 year of relevant work experience
• Experience with simulation software interface development in a RHEL Linux environment with emphasis on network interfaces (i.e. socket programming)
• Experience with scripting languages and C
• The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

• Experience with scripting, database and programming in Windows MS Visual Studio, Linux, Python and Qt
• Understanding of radar, aircraft coordinate math and mission system payloads

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
