Job Summary:
We are a privately owned, small animal clinic seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are looking for applicants with all levels of experience if you are a motivated individual who enjoys learning new things. Your role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including animal handling, laboratory work, and assisting with surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in veterinary critical care and possess a strong passion for working with animals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results
- Prepare animals for surgery and monitor their vital signs during procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including preventative medicine, nutrition and exercise
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience:
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician or similar role
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and aseptic technique
Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate record keeping and medication administration
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Compassion and empathy towards animals of all types and their owners
