Amesbury Public Schools is Hiring an EL Teacher Near Amesbury, MA

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Establishes and maintains school-based English Language instructional schedule/service delivery for ELs.Works in partnership with principal(s) and classroom teachers to incorporate learner objectives compatible with the subject, academic abilities, established curriculum and diverse learning needs of ELs.Recommends appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations for students and classroom teachers.Helps staff members at assigned schools understand EL policy and procedures through formal and/or informal trainingFacilitates and/or supports communications between EL student’s school and home to ensure parent engagementPossesses a broad knowledge regarding curriculum content and EL teaching strategies with specific content knowledge at multiple levels of instructionResearches innovative EL programs and research/evidence based strategies for ELsUtilizes data to improve programmingCreates a culture of effectiveness, by setting high standards and expectations for all students.Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests, including students with disabilities and different English proficiency levels.Analyzes individual student data to clearly identify and articulate current progress, including specific strengths and needsUsing this analysis, designs and delivers effective direct service to students in identified areas of need; carefully monitors progress for each individual student receiving service; adapts instructional plans based on progress monitoring to ensure growth for each student during intervention cycleSupports classroom teachers to understand individual student data and learning progress, and then to adapt their daily classroom instruction to include effective Tier 1 supportsAnalyzes grade level data to determine overall patterns of strength and need, and supports classroom teachers in their understanding and use of this data to improve student learningCreates effective data displays and tracking systems to support grade level teams with both data analysis and progress monitoring (at the individual, class and grade level)Supports grade levels with designing effective strategic groupings based on current data, and then designing effective instructional approaches and supports to meet identified needsResearches, teaches and models instructional best practices to address the needs of students who are not yet successful in literacyDevelops expertise in the literacy curricula and approaches used at the grade levelsAttends staff meetings, planning meetings for instructional area, and professional development as offered.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.Knowledge of technology and its use for reading diagnosis and literacy instructionKnowledge of current testing diagnostics for literacy skillsKnowledge of Massachusetts ELA/Literacy FrameworkExperience with Tier II Reading programs and/or systematic literacy instruction.Must have skills, knowledge, and dispositions to effectively and collaboratively work with teachers to improve general classroom literacy instructionResponsible for improving academic English language skills for identified students in the domains of reading, writing, listening, and speakingCollaborate and advise grade level content teachers on best practices to implement with EL students in an SEI classroom and discuss student progressCollaborate with the Literacy Coach, District Tiered Reading Support and Dyslexia Specialist and the Director of Teaching, Learning and EquityRecommended Minimum QualificationsESL Certification requiredStrong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority studentsAbility to work independently as a classroom leader and a member of the school community
