    Ames Community School District is seeking a Director of Technology for the 2022-2023 school year.
    MISSION STATEMENT
    The mission of the Ames Community School District is to ensure that all learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and personal esteem necessary to grow in and shape a changing society.
    Summary
    Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Technology Provides leadership and vision for developing and sustaining technology services that are in alignment with the District’s purpose and priorities and ensures equity and access for all individuals at Ames Community School District. The Director will facilitate best practices into curriculum, instruction, administrative systems and is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the information technology functions including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of information technology services.
    Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
    • Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
    • Evaluates technology and makes recommendations for the requisition of new electronic and printed educational materials.
    • Provides strategic vision and oversight for organizational Information Technology and Data systems/programs. Leads and manages the team to implement the vision.
    • Provides direct oversight and management for all IT team members. Fosters and builds an innovative team focused on the delivery of high quality customer service.
    • Recruits, hires and trains technical talent toward meeting the organization's mission.
    • Proactively suggests technology improvements for varying departments across the organization.
    • Engages with the local and national technology community; to learn from and collaborate with other technology leaders who share a common vision of equity, access, and opportunity.
    • Works with admin and staff to implement technology-infused education with fidelity and success.
    • Works alongside the Teaching & Learning Departments to provide logistical support to technology teacher librarians and media techs.
    • Facilitates staff development for all staff related to technology integration and skills.
    • Annually evaluates all aspects of the department and recommends/implements changes.
    • Updates, maintains and follows the District Technology budget.
    • Explores alternative sources of funding for technology and assists in writing grants for technology funding.
    • Oversees and coordinates the purchase and replacement cycle of all district supported technologies, software, and subscriptions.
    • Prepares, files, and maintains all documentation related to Universal Service Fund (e-rate).
    • Provides coordination of device insurance program in collaboration with maintenance and the business office.
    • Coordinates technology needs with facilities director for access control and HVAC.
    • Ability to step in and support any job duty assigned to direct reports.
    • Directs the development, coordination, and evaluation of network security, including disaster recovery.
    • Assists in planning the construction and renovation of district facilities.
    • Conducts evaluations of all direct reports in alignment with board policies.
    • Establishes and maintains tech support ticketing and self-service systems.
    • Creates a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all staff.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned.
    • Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis
    Qualifications:
    • Valid Iowa Teaching License.
    • Valid Iowa Evaluator approval preferred.
    • Master's Degree in Educational Technology or equivalent.
    • Teaching background.
    • Extensive background dealing with administrative and instructional technology.
    • Knowledge of Infinite Campus and Google Workspaces (Google Admin).

    • Current knowledge of assigned program and curriculum areas.
    • Effective conflict resolution skills.
    • Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy.
    • Strong education background.
    • Broad technical understanding.
