Job Description:

Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff of Amery Hospital & Clinic. Security Officers provide a variety of services ranging from routine patrols, emergency response, public assistance, report writing, investigative services and other duties as deemed necessary by the Manager, Security Operations.

Essential functions include:

• Patrol all areas of the hospital (internal and external) and any off-site properties owned and/or operated by Amery Hospital & Clinic on a daily basis as requested.
  • Performs Department Rounds according to the department policy.
  • Patrols all public areas, stairwells, conference rooms, bathrooms and waiting areas routinely.
  • Performs inspections for all parking lots and ramps associated with the organization.
  • Inspects departments routinely to identify potential safety hazards.
• Respond to the emergency needs of the organization and its occupants when necessary.
  • Responds to all fire alarms according to the organization’s policy.
  • Responds to disaster alerts to assist and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Responds to urgent requests from all departments.
• Respond to routing requests of all departments of Amery Hospital & Clinic.
  • Performs safety escorts to staff and visitors upon request.
  • Provides assistance to staff, visitors and patients.
  • Performs unlocks and lockups at the request of individuals and departments.
  • Provides appropriate customer service to all staff, patients and visitors.
• Report and investigate all incidents.
  • Responds to resolve matters that threaten the safety of staff, visitors and patients.
  • Completes appropriate reports and submits all documentation within the scheduled shift.
  • Investigates incidents and completes follow up as necessary.
  • Communicates information to departments/managers about incidents when necessary.
• Keep accurate documentation of all events during a scheduled shift.
  • Accurately signs in for payroll.
  • Completes and submits all reports accurately and timely
• Responsible for quick registration for patients entering the emergency department.
  • Obtain minimal necessary patient demographics such as name, birthdate, address and phone number.
  • Enter into the EMR.

Candidate Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; post high school education in the field of law enforcement is preferred.
• One year experience in customer service
• Experience in working security, Law Enforcement, Military or mental health is preferred.
