AMERISAFE is seeking a detail-oriented, productivity driven professional to add to our “Excellence Team” based in DeRidder, LA. The Accounting and Processing Associate will be under the direction of the Operations Manager, to plan, establish, lead, control, and maintain systems and procedures to provide accounting controls over assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Must be detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to work on many different projects at one time (multi-task).
• Ability to submit required reports in a timely manner.
• Typing skills and knowledge of data entry procedures required.
• Knowledge of general bookkeeping with experience with excel.
• Strong respect for confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recording payroll transactions.
• Assist in processing and recording commissions payments to producers.
• Assist in completing month end closing processes and reconciliations.
• Assist in reconciling and record carrier commissions statements.
• Enter commissions schedules into Agency Manager System.
• Follow federal, state, and local rules and regulations along with company policies and procedures.
• Control timely submission of all required statements and reports to regulatory bodies.
• Provide follow-up on delinquent debtors.
• Perform posting duties or data input, including updating clients’ receivable accounts to reflect payments or NSF checks as well as posting, reconciling, and flagging all direct bill commission income.
• Assist in maintaining accounts receivable information involving the storage of deposit ledgers, production reports for direct bill commission invoicing, etc.
• Perform duties involving preparation of deposit slips and ledgers as well as revising ledgers to reflect corrections.
• Handle inquiries from companies.
• Assist in reconciling and preparing invoices and statements for payment.
• Assist in reconciling old items, companies out of balance and old open binders.
• Assist in duties involving daily cash balancing for all cash accounts.
• Assist in processing refunds & check request ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received.
• Assist in the review and handling specific notes receivable accounts.
• Assist in the research and correction of returned accounting mail.
• Assist in reviewing, coding, and processing vendor payable invoices & statements.
• Assist in handling inquiries from vendors.
• Assist in reconciling bank statements.
• Assist in reconciling and prepare surplus lines taxes.
• Review, check and process incoming policies for accuracy.
• Review, check and process incoming endorsements for accuracy.
• Review, check and process all direct billed audits.
• Monitor license renewals and compliance for the Wholesale Division.
• Monitor Errors & Omissions coverage for Brokers of Wholesale Division.
• Cross train other staff to assist in the accounting functions if necessary.
• Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
• Conform with and abide by all policies, work procedures and instructions.
• Participate in seminars and classes for knowledge and skill development.
• Perform other duties as required.
