Description

Patient Flow Specialist

AmeriPro Health

APPLY FOR THIS JOB

As a Patient Flow Specialist, you will play an integral role in building a long-lasting relationship with our local health systems. Working closely with case managers and nurses within the facility, this is a wonderful opportunity for an entry-level professional to be a part of a fast-paced, growing, and innovative healthcare organization.

You will be responsible for scheduling and organizing all outgoing transfers, reviewing, and confirming all paperwork is filled out properly and ready for the crew upon arrival, overseeing crews while on task, and keeping the staff up to date on any changes or delays. As our Coordinator you will be working closely alongside the case managers, nurses, and our other Patient Transfer Coordinator to ensure all needs for the Emory systems are met collectively. In addition, we are looking for a team player who is friendly and professional, has excellent communication skills, and most importantly is enthusiastic about providing positive customer service experiences.

What You'll Be Doing

    • Provide a Positive Customer Service Experience: Good customer service skills are crucial in this role as it is your job to build a relationship and trust between the hospital staff and our company. You will need to problem solve and think outside of the box often to ensure all the hospital’s needs are met. In this role, communication is key and being transparent with the staff goes a long way.
    • Scheduling: It will be your job to schedule all outgoing transfers for the hospital. Using both a personal work phone to schedule with the case managers directly and their Allscripts Referral site to enter all transfer requests. You will have 2-3 units daily to run these transfers, you will base your scheduled times off each unit’s schedule to figure out where transfers can be fit in and for which time.
    • Collaboration and Documentation: Directly working with the hospital’s nursing staff and case management team, you will work to ensure a quick and timely response as well as quick turnaround times for the crews. Working with the case managers before crew arrival and making sure all proper documentation and patient belongings are in order for your crew makes for a quick and smooth transfer.
    • Meetings: You will attend the morning meetings or “huddle” daily for the case management team to discuss the census and any significant changes or updates. You will also be required to attend follow-up meetings with our AmeriPro Health team and the Emory team.
    • Learning: This is a position in which you will continue to learn and grow each day. Between the crews, case managers and nurses, you will often learn something new or find a better technique to further help your process. It is important that you can take constructive criticism and use it to expand your knowledge and process. This is a business development role, so it is imperative that you can communicate and learn to adapt to new procedures or protocols.

Qualifications

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required (associate or bachelor's degree strongly preferred)
    • EMT Certification of any level, dispatch experience is also beneficial.
    • Professional work-ethic: adaptable, extremely organized, detail oriented, and focused on maintaining confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
    • Excellent Customer Service, Communication, and Critical Thinking skills
