AmeriCorps is Hiring a 24-25 King Conservation District Community Agriculture Spec. Near Washington, DC
This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. King Conservation District (KCD) is a nonregulatory special purpose district. We promote the sustainable use of natural resources through voluntary stewardship. The Community Agriculture Program expands access to good food through community gardens. We provide advice and resources to empower historically underserved gardeners in the urban core. The member will help us achieve our goals though outreach events, trainings, garden installation, developing materials, and other special projects and events. Monthly stipend amount: $3,561.
Member Duties : The Community Agriculture Specialist supports King Conservation District's efforts to expand access to good food through gardening. They will support community garden planning, implementation, and monitoring; recruit volunteers and facilitating volunteer events; develop outreach and educational materials and representing KCD at outreach events; facilitate educational events; coordinate distribution of resources to community gardens; build trusting partnerships with non-profits and agencies to strengthen outreach to historically underserved communities; Support special projects such as the creation of a community garden map.
